Most sites are not attacked. They are neglected, and then one plugin update takes the checkout down on a Friday. Maintenance is the unglamorous work that keeps that from happening to a Sarasota business: updates applied on a schedule and tested first, backups you have actually restored once, and someone to call who does not need a week to learn how your site works.

01 — What’s included

Updates run on a staging copy first, not on your live site at two in the afternoon. If something breaks there, you never hear about it. You get a monthly note in plain language saying what was updated, what was blocked and why, how the site performed, and anything worth deciding on. There is no contract term and no charge for small edits — a phone number, a price, a new staff photo.

  1. 01WordPress core, theme and plugin updates, staged and tested before they go live
  2. 02Off-site daily backups, with a restore tested so you know it works
  3. 03Security hardening, malware scanning and uptime monitoring with alerts
  4. 04A monthly report in plain language: what changed, what it cost you, what to decide
  5. 05A small allowance of content edits each month at no extra charge
  6. 06A named developer who answers, and who already knows how the site was built
Local context — Sarasota

Sarasota has a strong arts, hospitality, and professional-services economy alongside the usual coastal trades. Businesses here often have an established site with years of content and rankings worth protecting, which makes careful migrations and redesigns, not from-scratch rebuilds, the right call more often than not.

Websites rarely need only one thing done to them. For Sarasota businesses I also take on website speed in Sarasota and website migration in Sarasota, and just up the road I cover website maintenance in Fort Myers and website maintenance in Cape Coral.

Website maintenance in Sarasota

Sarasota businesses more often than not have a site with years of history behind it, and the usual condition is plugin sprawl: thirty extensions, half of them abandoned upstream, each one a way in. Maintenance here starts with an audit that says which can go, which must be replaced, and which are holding the site together. After that it is the routine — staged updates, verified backups, monitoring — on a site with far less surface left to attack.

Who I build for in Sarasota

  • Arts, culture, and nonprofitsEvent calendars, ticketing or donation links, and accessible design matter, because the audience spans every age and device.
  • Tourism and hospitalityVisitors plan on phones, often from out of state, so fast pages, clear directions, and booking links decide who gets the reservation.
  • Professional servicesLaw, financial, and medical offices need a credible site with clear practice-area pages and contact paths that respect privacy.
  • Coastal trades and home servicesA page for each trade and area, plus a simple quote form, turns local searches into calls.

03 — Process

Four steps and no surprises: you approve the scope before work starts and the site before it launches.

01

Discovery

A short call or email exchange about your goals, your customers and what is not working today. Free, with no commitment.

02

Proposal

A written scope, timeline and fixed price, so you know exactly what you are getting before anything starts.

03

Development

The work happens on a staging site you can open at any time, with plain-language updates at agreed checkpoints.

04

Delivery

Testing, a launch in a low-traffic window, documentation and a handoff session, then support while your team settles in.

04 — Questions

01Can we meet in person in Sarasota?

Yes, when it helps. Most Sarasota projects run remotely by video call and email, and I can meet in person for a kickoff or launch review.

02We have years of content. Can you keep it?

Yes. Preserving existing content and rankings is the core of how I handle migrations and redesigns. Every page is inventoried and either kept at the same address or redirected, and nothing is removed without your approval.

03What does maintenance cost?

A flat monthly price, set by the size of the site and whether it takes orders. You get the number after the audit, and it does not move without you agreeing to it first.

04I already pay for hosting. Is this not the same thing?

No. Hosting keeps the server running; it does not update your plugins, test that the update did not break your forms, or notice that your contact form stopped sending mail three weeks ago. Good hosting is a requirement for this work, not a substitute for it.

05What happens if the site goes down?

Monitoring tells me before it tells you, in most cases. Restoring from the previous night's backup is a matter of minutes, and you get a note afterwards saying what happened and what stops it happening again.

05 — Service areas

I work with businesses across Florida, on both coasts. Pick your city for details specific to your area.
